Agentic AI Shows Promise in Cybersecurity Applications

Agentic artificial intelligence has the potential to facilitate advancements in cybersecurity, with SlashNext Field Chief Technology Officer J. Stephen Kowski noting the technology will allow more efficient operations while curbing human error, reports SC Media.

As an example, ReliaQuest touted its AI Agent — which leverages decade-long end-to-end incident response information — to enable a 20-fold and 30% improvement in security alert processing and threat identification accuracy compared with traditional tools.

"Eliminating Tier 1 and Tier 2 work out of security operations will give our customers' talented security teams back time and energy to do the work that matters, helping to protect the global organizations we all interact with on a daily basis," said ReliaQuest founder and CEO Brian Murphy.

But there are also drawbacks. Despite its benefits, AI agents could also introduce more vulnerabilities and result in increased accountability concerns as the agents become more sophisticated.

"If you don't have good data security as an organization, anything that you try to build on top of that, from an advanced AI perspective, will be difficult. So you have to get your data security right in order to get AI right because good data is good AI," said Darktrace Security and AI Director Hanah Darley.
